American Airlines has announced a large order for 260 aircraft from three major manufacturers.
The agreements will allow the airline to take delivery of 85 Airbus A321neo, 85 Boeing 737 MAX 10 and 90 Embraer E175 aircraft, with options and purchase rights for an additional 193 aircraft.
As part of the agreement, AA has upgraded 30 existing orders for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, for the larger 737 MAX 10, which is currently scheduled to enter service in 2025.
The new deals mean the airline now has a total of 440 aircraft on order. AA said expected deliveries of new aircraft, combined with the refurbishment of existing aircraft, would see the number of premium seats across its fleet grow by more than 20 per cent by 2026.
In 2022, the airline introduced new premium business and economy class cabins that will debut on upcoming Airbus 321 XLR and Boeing 787-9 deliveries.

Commenting on the news, American CEO Robert Isom said:
“Over the past decade, we have invested heavily to modernize and simplify our fleet, which is the largest and youngest among U.S. network operators.
“These orders will continue to fuel our fleet with newer, more efficient aircraft so we can continue to offer the best network and unprecedented operational reliability for our customers.”
