Google's big August 13 launch event is fast approaching and there's not much mystery left about what's being announced, and it looks like we already have our first look at the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (the Google Pixel Fold 2).
The foldable device was apparently spotted in use at a Starbucks in Taiwan and passed along to the Android Authority team. It appears that the phone is inside one of the official cases that Google is expected to release alongside the device.
It's an interesting real-world look at Google's upcoming foldable phone (assuming the leak is genuine), but it doesn't actually tell us anything new about the phone. Just yesterday we saw a bunch of images of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold online.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold could be thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was revealed last month, and it's clear that the market for the best foldable phones is becoming increasingly competitive.
Is the price right?
Three more phones are expected to be unveiled alongside the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on August 13: the Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. These have also been leaked extensively in recent weeks.
Via Dealabs (and 9to5Google) we now have more details on pricing in Europe: the Pixel 9 is said to start at €899, the Pixel 9 Pro at €1099, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL at €1199. Three months of YouTube Premium and six months of Fitbit Premium are also said to be included.
Now, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro started at €799 / $699 / £699 / AU$1,199 and €1,099 / $999 / £999 / AU$1,699 respectively, so it looks like the standard model is getting a price increase, as previously rumoured. As for the Pixel 9 Pro XL, we don't have a current model to compare it to.
None of this is certain until August 13, when Google will reveal everything. We'll of course be covering the event live, and it'll likely be streamed online as well — plus there's a good chance we'll see the Pixel Watch 3 and a new streaming device.
