There are plenty of AirPods deals for the 2019 AirPods that launched at $159 / £159 / AU$249. But thanks to the launch of the AirPods 3, you can often find discounts on the second-generation AirPods, which are priced as low as $99 / £99 / AU$99.
While AirPods 2 don't have noise cancellation, the second-generation earbuds come with Apple's H1 chip to deliver quality sound and faster pairing with seamless connectivity. In September 2022, the long-awaited AirPods Pro 2 launched with a starting price of $249 / £249 / AU$399. The original AirPods Pro launched in 2019 with a starting price of $249/£249/AU$399. While the earbuds are no longer available to buy from Apple's store, you can sometimes find the original AirPods Pro on sale at third-party retailers.

Apple quietly launched the AirPods Max in December 2020 as Apple's most expensive earbuds with a starting price of $549.99 / £549.
Not only do the AirPods Max stand out for their price, but Apple’s earbuds also feature an over-ear design, which is a first for the AirPods line. Apple says the AirPods Max bring the magic of AirPods to an over-ear design, meaning you get active noise cancellation, powerful H1 chips, and an enhanced audio experience.
AirPods Max also feature a unique design with a breathable woven mesh headband and stainless steel frame with memory foam ear cushions for maximum comfort. Apple’s earbuds come in several stylish color options, including space gray, silver, sky blue, green, and pink, and provide up to 20 hours of battery life.
How much do AirPods cost?
The official price of the AirPods is $159 in the US, £159 in the UK, and $249 in Australia, so you shouldn't have to pay more. Although we've seen some retailers blatantly jack up the price when stock runs out. If you're looking for the version with the wireless charging case, prices skyrocket to around $199 in the US and £199 in the UK.
Regular outlets are expected to charge prices closer to the suggested retail price, and better yet, drop a bit more during key shopping seasons. But fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for some good Apple AirPods deals!

What about the original Apple AirPods from 2016?
These models have been discontinued and removed from most stores. On the rare occasion that we find unused units in stock, they are actually priced the same as the new and improved 2019 versions.
Short version: buy the 2019 models through one of the offers in the comparison table above. To be on the safe side, are Newer ones, look for the H1 chip and hands-free Siri functionality in the description if the title doesn't say something like '2019' or 'newer/latest version'.
Should I wait for a cheaper AirPods deal?
You may have to wait a while to get big discounts. Last year around Black Friday we saw $20 discounts that sold out in minutes, and it was one of the most popular deals we highlighted in our extensive roundups of the best deals. We saw similar discounts in the UK too, much better than last year's $7 discount, but there are still no flash deals at the moment.
Overall, things have been better this year, with much better deals available in several regions. We regularly see $15/£20 discounts outside of peak season sales, so to be honest, you should be able to beat the recommended retail price.
