Nintendo has revealed a new trailer for Splatoon 3The next downloadable content (DLC) of Garrisonwhich has showcased more single-player roguelike action than players can expect.
Garrison is the second wave of DLC Splatoon 3's Expansion Pass, and will launch on February 22. The experience will see players once again step into the shoes of Agent 8, the Octoling protagonist of Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion Downloadable content. Our cephalopod hero mysteriously awakens in a colorless, dystopian version of Inkopolis Square in a “world of order.”
As it is shown in the trailer, the player is tasked with ascending the sinister Spire of Order one floor at a time alongside the beloved character Inkling Pearl, who inhabits a drone for some reason. To progress, players must complete objectives, such as defeating enemies or guiding balls to goals, which have varying difficulties and rewards. Starting these challenges will also provide the player with “color tokens,” which are temporary skill upgrades that can be equipped to improve attributes such as fire rate or damage.
If you lose a race, you'll have to start over from the bottom of the needle. You'll also lose all your colored tokens, but in exchange you'll be rewarded with new currency, pearls, which you can spend on permanent skill upgrades to make your next attempts a little easier. Nintendo has explained that the experience is “designed to be repeated over and over again.”
As Splatoon Fans have probably already noticed, it seems likely that this “world of order” scenario ties into the theme of Splatoon 2The final Splatfest (in-game voting contest), in which players answered the question: “What kind of world do you want to live in?” The two options were “chaos” or “order.” Splatoon 3The main location of Splatsville is known as the “city of chaos”, so that base was already covered. It makes sense that this has been the focus in Splatoon 3 since Team Chaos won the competition.
For the uninitiated, Splatoon 2The main story saw the player team up with Marie, the squid sister who won Splatoonthe final Splatfest, so the Splatoon The story has also been influenced by previous Splatfests in the past. However, it remains to be seen how the plot develops. Garrison will develop.
