Sony has confirmed that a surprise PlayStation 5 tech reveal event will be held on Tuesday, September 10. It could very well mark the announcement of the long-awaited PS5 Pro console.
According to confirmed information, this PlayStation 5 technical presentation will last a total of “9 minutes.” It will be presented by Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS5 console, and will focus on “PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.”
At this presentation, all eyes will be on anything PS5 Pro-shaped. As for the console, which has generated a lot of rumours and a lot of anticipation, there have been persistent claims that it will be revealed at a Sony presentation this month.
While many were hoping for a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play, which would potentially give us a look at long-running rumors, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Story expansions and more information on Hideo Kojima's next game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, It looks like all we'll get for now is potential information about a new PS5 Pro model.
The announcement, which was made on X/Twitter, was accompanied by a new post on the PlayStation Blog. It provides almost no additional information, though it does give us an official broadcast time of 8am Pacific Time (PDT) / 11am Eastern Time (EDT) / 4pm BSTIt also confirms that you'll be able to watch the stream via PlayStation's YouTube channel.
As for what to expect from the console itself (if it is indeed revealed), Sony recently published some official PlayStation artwork that seemed to confirm the PS5 Pro’s design. The illustration showed a console that looked a lot like a PS5 Slim but with a series of black grooves added to its exterior.
PlayStation captioned the artwork with “Your first look đŸ‘€” on Instagram, and since it's the same design shown in previous leaks, it's definitely plausible that this was our first official look at the console.
As for official specs and pricing, we'll have to wait and see if there's any new information in tomorrow's stream.
