As of 2024, Samsung has almost mastered the foldable phone enough, to the point that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, despite being very similar to its predecessor, managed a score of 4.5 stars in our Samsung review Galaxy Z Fold 5. Therefore, the next model in the series, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, is likely to be a very good phone as well.
Samsung has already set the date for the presentation of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which will be Wednesday, July 10, and you will be able to follow a live broadcast on the web, as well as all the coverage here on TechRadar.
While that date has now been set, there's still a lot we don't know about what the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will bring. Here, we've rounded up all the leaks and rumors about this flagship foldable that we've come across so far – and there have been a lot of them.
Come to the point
- What is it? Samsung's next foldable flagship
- When does it come out? Wednesday, July 10, 2024
- How much will it cost? Will probably start at $1,799.99 / £1,749 / AU$2,599
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: release date and price
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is overwhelmingly likely to launch at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. That exhibition is now scheduled for July 10, with an event taking place in Paris.
The next Galaxy Z devices are already available for pre-order before then, although Samsung doesn't explicitly say which ones they are. If you pre-order in advance, you'll receive Samsung Credit instantly and save a good amount of money.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6's price, one leak suggests it will cost $100 more than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, meaning a starting price in the US of $1,099.99, and in that case we're likely to see similar increases elsewhere.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,799.99 / £1,749 / AU$2,599, so it's likely the Z Fold 6 will cost at least that much.
All that said, there is a chance that the Z Fold 6 could be cheaper, as Samsung is reportedly considering using a cheaper method to create the bezels for its foldable display.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: models
Before we get into the various leaks about the standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, it's worth noting that several other models have also been rumored.
These include a high-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, a more affordable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, and a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which could be larger and thinner than the standard model, although it could also be the Ultra. other name.
However, below we will focus on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 itself.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: design and screen
There are some changes expected to the design and display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but they're not likely to be drastic changes. Samsung has previously told us that the design team stuck with the relatively narrow form factor of its predecessors because they believed it offered the best “usability, grip, and portability.”
One of the best looks we've had at the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been through a leak of Samsung's official cases. Since these cases show the foldable phone inside, we can see that the look of the phone hasn't changed that much from the current model.
We've seen even more images thanks to a leak from The well-known whistleblower @evleaks This was quickly followed by another less deliberate one from an Australian retailer's site. Again, we can see the triple-lens rear camera layout on the back and the slightly wider cover display on the front.
Here we can also see some color options, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 shown in light gray or silver, dark navy blue, and light pink. The current model is available in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, Cream, Gray and Blue.
Leaked renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 from @OnLeaks (a leaker with a long track record) show a similar design to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, but with a slightly more square look. Still, it’s certainly not a drastic design change. According to the tipster, the Z Fold 6 has dimensions of 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm when unfolded, which would make it slightly shorter and wider than the Z Fold 5.
That could allow for the rumored different aspect ratio, but @OnLeaks claims the cover display will once again be 6.2 inches, rather than larger as previously suggested. The thickness will also be the same, so don't count on a thinner phone this year.
The same tipster claims that the main display is again 7.6 inches and 120Hz, albeit with a higher peak brightness of 2600 nits. However, they have since added that the Z Fold 6 could weigh slightly less than its predecessor, at 239 grams.
We've heard similar claims elsewhere, with a massive Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 specs leak pointing to dimensions of 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1mm when folded and 153.5 x 132.6 x 5 .6 mm when unfolded, a weight of 239 g and a 7.6-inch Dynamic 1,856 x 2,160 AMOLED 2X foldable display with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. The same source also claims that the cover screen is 6.3 inches 986 x 2,376, with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
However, the cover screen could at least be more durable this year, as it reportedly uses Corning Gorilla Armor, like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. On the other hand, we have heard that the Galaxy Z Fold 6's cover screen could incorporate anti-glare technology.
Furthermore, we have also seen leaked photos of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 dummy unit, which largely match the images above, but show a visible crease on the screen. Although it's unclear whether this crease would be as big on the finished phone.
Beyond all that, Samsung itself has said that it is working on making its foldable phones dust-resistant. So, we think that's a feature that could come to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, though the company hasn't committed to it.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: colors
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 colors could include Navy Blue, Silver Shadow, Light Pink, Crafted Black, and White, according to young rosswho further suggests that the Crafted Black and White shades of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be exclusive to Samsung.com.
Evan Blass has also leaked the same color selection of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, although Blass only mentions “pink” instead of “light pink.” These colors match some of the leaked renders we found and which you can see above.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 launched in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream last year, with Gray and Blue also available exclusively on the Samsung store.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: cameras and battery
According to rumors, all the cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be the same as those on the Z Fold 5. That's a claim we've heard from multiple sources, where they say that the rear cameras, the front camera and the under-screen camera on the Z Fold 6 it will be the same as on the Z Fold 5.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide, as well as a 10MP camera on the cover display and a 4MP camera underneath the foldable display. So some or all of these features could remain the same on the Z Fold 6.
However, another source has claimed that Samsung is considering using the same camera setup for the Z Fold 6 as it does for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. They don't say which of the S24 Ultra's cameras they're referring to, but it's likely they're talking about the 200MP sensor. Elsewhere, we've also heard that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 could have an upgraded under-display camera.
As for the battery, several sources point to a 4,600mAh battery (compared to the Z Fold 5's 4,400mAh), although another source contradicts this, stating that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will once again have a 4,400mAh battery and 25W charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: specifications and features
As for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 specs, we have heard from multiple sources that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, this does not come as a surprise as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is also used by the Galaxy S24 lineup and is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset used by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
There was initially talk that an Exynos chipset could be used in some regions, but that seems highly unlikely as The Elec specifically said that Snapdragon will be used everywhere.
That Snapdragon chipset would make it extremely powerful, however, and we'd expect it to be joined by at least 12GB of RAM, since that's what the Z Fold 5 has. In fact, one of the first Samsung Galaxy benchmarks Z Fold 6 includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and Android 14.
A second Galaxy Z Fold 6 benchmark shows the same specs, and the phone achieves even better scores than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra here. Overall, many forecasters agree that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will offer 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage configurations.
On the software side, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will likely support Android updates without a hitch, as Samsung already offers this feature on a recent phone. It may also have some new AI features, as a leak suggests that you’ll be able to use AI to instantly transform doodles and sketches into polished images on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This is a very similar idea to the Image Wand feature that’s part of Apple Intelligence.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Perspectives
Based on the rumors that have spread so far, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 appears to be a minor update to its excellent predecessor. The biggest improvements we'll see could be related to the processor that runs it all, and perhaps the built-in software (especially when Android 15 arrives).
You could say that Samsung has most of the foldable phone formula down, so it doesn't need to choose between revolution and evolution. But by bringing a host of Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, including some new ones that can take advantage of the extra screen real estate a foldable phone offers, the sixth Galaxy Fold could be more intriguing than its specs might suggest. .
