Given the Galaxy Z Fold 6's specs so far, we can be pretty sure that it's going to be an expensive phone. After all, this line of phones is typically Samsung's most expensive each year, and the 2023 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 costs even more than this year's flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
As for the exact price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, that's not all that clear. But between leaks and educated guesses, we have an idea, so read on to find out what we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 price.
How much is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 likely to cost?
When predicting the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, a good starting point is to look at the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, as there's a strong chance that Samsung will sell the upcoming phone at a similar price.
You can see the current model's prices in the chart below, but in short, if prices stay the same this year then the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will start at $1,799.99 / £1,749 / AU$2,599.
Storage | US | United Kingdom | Australia |
256 GB | $1,799.99 | £1,749 | AU$2,599 |
512 GB | $1,919.99 | £1,849 | AU$2,799 |
1TB | $2,159.99 | £2,049 | AU$3,149 |
There are reasons to think the price might not be the same this year, though, as in the UK and Australia at least, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 costs more than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which launched at $1,799/£1,649/AU$2,499. As such, it's possible Samsung could raise prices again in some or all regions this year.
On the other hand, the US price has remained firm, and even the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 had the same initial price in the US as the Z Fold 5, so at least some regions could keep the old price. Although one could also see the US price staying the same for three years in a row, as a sign that a price increase is already in the offing.
Based on history, we don't expect the price to go up more than around $100, £100 or AU$150, so at most that could mean a starting price of around $1,899, £1,849 or AU$2,749.
In fact, one source specifically leaked a $100 price increase for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
But there’s also the possibility that the price could come down. After all, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 actually launched for less than the Z Fold 2, so there’s precedent for this. And as foldable phones become more common and Samsung refines the shape, it’s likely that some aspects of the production cost could come down.
We've also heard that Samsung could use a new, cheaper method to create the bezels on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which could also lead to reduced production costs, and those savings could be passed on to buyers.
That is speculation and in any case we would not expect a drastic reduction in price: probably at most around $100, £100 or AU$150. In other words, the same amount by which it could alternatively increase.
Hopefully we’ll get a clearer idea of pricing soon, as with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 reportedly launching in July, there’s a good chance that pricing will be confirmed soon. But for now, we’re predicting the lowest possible starting price would be around $1,699.99 / £1,649 / AU$2,449, and the highest, as noted, would be roughly $1,899 / £1,849 / AU$2,749, with a price in line with the Z Fold 5 at $1,799.99 / £1,749 / AU$2,599 perhaps the most likely.
Of course, that’s just the starting price – the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is sold in three configurations with between 256GB and 1TB of storage, so we’re likely to see something similar this year. If so, it’s possible that prices could top out at $2000/£2000/AU$3000 for the top-end model.
What about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE and Z Fold 6 Ultra?
This could be an unusual year for the Galaxy Z Fold, because for the first time there could be more than one phone in the lineup: there is talk of both a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE and a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra.
It's unclear whether one, both, or neither of these will launch, and if they do, they could arrive later in the year than the standard Z Fold 6. But if there is a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, then it could cost substantially less than the standard model.
How much less? Well, a leak suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE could cost under $800 (around £630 or AU$1,205). Frankly, that sounds way too cheap, so we'd take it with a grain of salt. If it's true, it would likely mean the hardware and features are drastically cut back compared to the standard model. But whether that's true or not, an FE model will almost certainly cost less than the full-fledged Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Likewise, if there is a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, that model will likely cost even more than the standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. How much more is unknown, but that model, if it launches at all, is expected to arrive alongside the standard Z Fold 6, not in place of it; so you could always go for the relatively affordable base model.
