With the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 now official, we can turn our attention to the next set of Galaxy flagship phones, and it looks like the most expensive model, the Samsung Galaxy S25, could be coming with a change of shape.
Well-known tipster @UniverseIce (via Android Authority) says that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have an asymmetrical frame design, more rounded towards the back and straighter towards the front, where the display is.
This slight narrowing appears to be aimed at making the phone more comfortable to hold. The source adds that the mid-frame and bezels have been narrowed, making the phone roughly the same width as the Samsung Galaxy S24 (so 70.6mm instead of the S24 Ultra's 79mm).
The Galaxy S25 series is expected to arrive in January 2025, which is roughly six months from now, but the design is said to be already finalized for the standard model, the Plus model, and the Ultra model.
What we expect
The real leak: The Galaxy S25 Ultra's center frame is designed asymmetrically at the front and back. The center frame near the back cover is more rounded, while the part near the display is straighter. I think this is Samsung's design considering the feeling when holding it.July 12, 2024
We haven't heard much about the Galaxy S25 phones so far, but that's likely to change in the coming months. There's already talk that some of the Ultra model's four rear cameras are on the way to being upgraded.
We've also seen some unofficial renders of the front of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, though they don't tell us too much about what's coming – at least from the front, the phone will look pretty similar to this year's model.
You can check out our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review to see what we think of the current model. We were very impressed by it. Samsung will no doubt find some areas to improve, including in the processor department – the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is likely to be the one to lead the show.
Before all that, we'll look at what Google has been working on for its 2024 flagship Android phones: There's a launch event scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, when the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro (and maybe more phones) will appear.
