Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 series phones on January 17 at its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024. Samsung Galaxy S24
The new entry-level Galaxy S24 is rumored to use a 6.2-inch display, which is a modest improvement over last year’s Galaxy S23.
The previous model included a 6.1-inch display and the S24 was expected to offer slimmer bezels.
The resolution of the base Samsung Galaxy S24 will likely remain the same at FHD+ or 1080 x 2340, which will still be a decent quality in 2024.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus
Another improvement is the Galaxy S24 Plus, which is said to use a respectable 6.7-inch display with reduced bezels framing the screen.
This is another slight 1-inch improvement over the previous Galaxy S23 Plus, which had a 6.6-inch panel.
However, what is more interesting is that the resolution of the Galaxy S24 Plus is also rumored to have received an upgrade from the same 1080 x 2340 resolution to a QHD+ or WQHD upgrade.
This means it could have a higher number of pixels spread across a wider aspect ratio, providing a reason for owners of older Plus models to consider an upgrade.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
As always, the Ultra model features the largest display and the Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to have a massive 6.8-inch display.
This puts it in the same territory as the iPhone 15 Pro Max (6.7-inch), Google Pixel 8 Pro (6.7-inch), and the same size as the older Samsung S23 Ultra and even the older S22 Ultra.
This seems conservative at first until you consider that the entire Galaxy S24 family is rumored to have a display with a brightness of 2,500 nits, a significant improvement over the previous 1,750 nits.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s resolution will likely remain the same or similar to the S23 Ultra’s already impressive 3088 x 1440.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Screen Size Outlook
While the Galaxy S24’s display isn’t set to revolutionize smartphone display standards, there’s still a lot to be excited about, especially for fans of the base and Plus models of the Galaxy S24.
A notable update to both the S24 and S24 Plus is the rumored addition of LTPO technology, which is expected to make the display more battery-efficient by offering a wider refresh rate range that allows the display to drop to lower frequencies. to save energy when unnecessary.
LTPO panels have been present on previous Galaxy Ultra phones, but never made it to the standard Galaxy S series phones; The Galaxy S23 and S22 offered variable refresh rates, but they only went from 120Hz to 48Hz, rather than the power-hungry 1Hz.
