While this Strands puzzle isn't difficult per se, I found it impossible to get started without using a hint; the thematic clue, “Not Just For Poking Around,” was simply too vague. Yes, of course it makes sense in retrospect… but that's not much use now!
Once I had that first word, HOCKEY, things were a lot easier. CONTROL was highlighted at the bottom of the board, the spangram, STICK was also pretty obvious, and at that point it was simply a matter of fitting the words onto the board.
