We're just days away from the launch of the Google Pixel 9 series on August 13, but as usual, almost everything about these phones has already leaked. One of the few things we're not entirely sure about at the moment is the pricing, but that's now leaked too, at least for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
According to a Reddit post showing a screenshot of pricing on T-Mobile (spotted by GSMArena), the Google Pixel 9 Pro will start at $999.99. That’s the same starting price as the Pixel 8 Pro, and while we don’t have pricing for other regions, if that price is accurate there’s a good chance it’ll be the same elsewhere too – meaning we could be talking about £999 or AU$1,699.
While that may seem like good news, we have to keep in mind that the Pixel 9 Pro is reportedly a much smaller phone than the Pixel 8 Pro. The latter is 6.7 inches, while the former is said to have a display of just 6.3 inches, according to leaks.
An XL price for an XL phone
The actual successor to the Pixel 8 Pro is the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is said to have a roughly 6.7-inch display and, according to this price listing, starts at $1,199. So we could be looking at a $200 price increase compared to the 8 Pro (there was no Pro XL model last year).
Again, there's no pricing for other regions, but based on prices for other configurations of the Pixel 8 Pro, that could translate to around £1,199 / AU$1,999.
There’s a bit of confusion here, as both the 256GB and 512GB Pixel 9 Pro XL models are listed for $1,199, so we shouldn’t take this listing too seriously. However, according to leaker Roland Quandt, one of Google’s early bird deals will sell a 512GB model for the price of a 256GB one, so that’s likely what’s going on here.
This deal might alleviate the rumoured price increase a little, but it's still a considerable increase. Whether the Pixel 9 Pro XL will be worth such a price hike remains to be seen, but we'll find out very soon. Stay tuned to TechRadar for all the latest leaks, and for our coverage of the launch event and our impressions of the Pixel 9 lineup on August 13.
