My first DJI drone was the flagship DJI Mavic Pro model which was launched in 2016. At the time, it was the smallest consumer market drone ever made by the brand, replacing the bulky DJI Phantom, and that meant it wasn't cheap at $999/£999.
It didn't take long after unpacking it to smash it against a wall. I was excited; the controls were reversed. Back then, there was no way I could just shell out for a replacement drone, but luckily I only needed a new arm instead of a whole new drone (ugh).
Since then, DJI has significantly expanded its range of consumer drones, from the ultralight Mini series to the Neo series, which is more accessible for casual travelers. The most beginner-friendly of all is the DJI Neo, which you can find on Amazon for just $139 (was $199) in the US and £113 (was £169) in the UK for the drone itself.
