MachineGames has finally unveiled its long-awaited Indiana Jones game, which now has an official title and is scheduled for release in 2024.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a first-person adventure that will put players directly in Indy's shoes, on a global adventure that will take the archaeologist to Egypt, the Himalayas and beyond. The story takes place between Raiders of the lost ark and The last crusadeand will see Indy team up with an investigative reporter named Gina as they unravel a deep mystery.
In combat, Indy will be able to use weapons, his raw fists and, of course, his iconic whip to defeat enemies in a variety of ways. In fact, the whip is multi-purpose as it can also be used as a traversal tool and to distract enemies with its cracking sound.
Beyond the action, the developers teased that players will be encouraged to overcome problems in “smart ways,” just as the legendary archaeologist would. There will also be many secrets to discover in the world and puzzles to solve (some optional and some required).
Although most of the game is first-person, cutscenes and environment cross-sections will be closer to a third-person perspective, to make things feel a little more cinematic. This same cinematic feel is combined with a soundtrack that aims to replicate the style of the Indiana Jones films.
As expected, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is slated to be an Xbox console exclusive; It is scheduled for release in Xbox Series|S and Xbox Game Pass, as well as PC. Although no specific release window was provided, it's an exciting prospect to think it will be available before the end of the year.
