History and setting of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Since it's an Indiana Jones game, we can expect a pulpy, thrilling adventure filled with brazen heroism and relics of ancient times.
Fortunately, the trailer and gameplay trailer offer some useful tidbits that an enterprising viewer could use to piece together some parts of the plot. Since the trailer shows a map of Vatican City and text that partly reads, “I'll get to Rome,” it looks like we'll see Dr. Jones venturing into Italy, along with the trailer's introductory scene suggesting a brief stint through Africa.
Since Indy's plane ticket is dated 1937, our hero may have to deal with the machinations of Italy's growing fascist party as Europe teeters on the brink of World War II. This also means that the game will take place (at least partially) a year after the first Indiana Jones movie: Raiders of the lost ark.
The “Ancient Circles,” “Forbidden Stones,” and “Myths That Made Us” books suggest that, in typical Indiana Jones fashion, the adventure will feature occult myths and ancient artifacts with supernatural powers.
