Apple has announced the Apple Watch Series 10 at this year's iPhone event, promising to be thinner and lighter than previous Apple Watches with new aluminum and titanium finishes, the new S10 chipset, and its largest display yet—even larger than the 49mm Apple Watch Ultra series.
The giant sapphire crystal display on Apple Watch Series 10 offers 30 percent more screen real estate than the largest Apple Watch Series 6, and the new wide-angle OLED with glass under the front promises to be 40 percent brighter when viewed from an angle compared to previous models. With a wider aspect ratio, Apple claims users can see an additional line of text compared to other models in Messages and Mail apps, while it’s reportedly “easier than ever to pause workouts.”
At just 9.7 mm and with an aluminum case that’s 10 percent lighter than Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 is also the thinnest and lightest Apple Watch ever. An innovative new metal back also promises the fastest charging ever — charging to 80 percent of the battery capacity in just 30 minutes.
New aluminum finishes include Jet Black, Rose Gold, and Silver Aluminum, while stainless steel models have been replaced with titanium, in Natural, Gold, and Slate Gray finishes. The new Flux face is reportedly made especially for the Apple Watch Series 10.
In addition to the Ultra-exclusive Depth and Oceanic+ apps for underwater activities and the new Tides app, Series 10’s new flagship health feature is Breathing Disturbances. Breathing Disturbances is a new metric in the Health app that can help diagnose sleep apnea. It will notify you if it identifies moderate to severe signs of sleep apnea and generate a report to show your doctor. It has been validated in a clinical study, the largest of its kind, and is awaiting FCC certification. This feature will also be available on Series 9 and Ultra 2.
Apple Watch Series 10 will be available starting September 20 for $399; international pricing to be confirmed.
