UK Primark strengthens leadership with new CFO Lucy Slinger

Primark has announced the appointment of Lucy Slinger as chief financial officer.

Lucy joins Primark from her role as Deputy CFO of IKEA franchisee Ingka Group, which operates in 32 countries and brings strong experience from another leading international retail and consumer business. Prior to this, she spent more than two decades at Shell holding a variety of senior financial leadership roles, including financial reporting, corporate finance, group planning and assessment and as CFO of the global aviation business.

Primark has appointed Lucy Slinger as chief financial officer as it continues its international growth and prepares to become an independent company. Coming from IKEA franchisee Ingka Group and previously holding senior finance roles at Shell, Slinger brings experience in financial transformation, governance, capital allocation and performance management. His appointment further strengthens CEO Eoin Tonge's leadership team.

Lucy brings deep experience in financial transformation, operational and financial performance management and strategic capital allocation across complex global businesses and supply chains, along with a strong track record in financial discipline and governance. As CFO, Lucy will play a key role in enabling Primark's long-term growth strategy as the business continues to expand internationally and prepares to become an independent entity.

Following the appointment of Filip Ekvall as Chief Commercial Officer, announced in March, Lucy further strengthens CEO Eoin Tonge's leadership team.

Primark CEO Eoin Tonge said: “I am delighted to welcome Lucy to Primark at such an important time for the business. She brings deep financial experience from large global organisations, along with an impressive track record in disciplined investment and operational performance. As we accelerate our growth strategy and prepare for an independent future, her leadership will be invaluable. I look forward to working closely with her as we shape the next phase of Primark's growth.”

Lucy Slinger, Primark's incoming chief financial officer, said: “I am excited to be joining Primark at such a crucial point in its journey. Primark is a unique business with a strong ambition for growth and a distinctive customer proposition, based on making great fashion accessible while continuing to drive quality and sustainability. I look forward to working with Eoin and my colleagues across the business as Primark continues to grow internationally and invest for the future.”
