The American Michael Kors shines at the Met Gala with impressive haute couture creations

Michael Kors is pleased to announce that the following guests wore couture from the Michael Kors collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit and the opening of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” on Monday, May 6, 2024 in New York City.

Meg Ryan wore a black mikado silk and wool couture dress from the Michael Kors collection with a tulle bodice and hand-shaded floral embroidery. Artisans spent more than 800 hours hand-stitching 1,120 sequin flowers, each composed of dozens of recycled sequins in seven different shapes and sizes, wrapping around the dress like a vine.

Gabrielle Union-Wade wore a metallic gradient tulle mermaid dress from the Michael Kors couture collection with hand-embroidered sequins. The high-necked dress, which required 12 artisans and more than 9,500 hours to hand-embroidery, features thousands of sequins in five colors and different sizes that together create a dramatic, one-of-a-kind scale effect.

Michael Kors dressed notable celebrities in couture for the 2024 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union-Wade, Rachel Zegler and others showcased dresses made with sequins and hand-embroidered floral designs, requiring thousands of hours of craftsmanship. Alexander Dreymon and Chase Stokes wore custom suits.

Rachel Zegler wore a pale blue tulle Michael Kors collection couture dress with a halter neckline and hand-embroidered sequins and a pale blue taffeta and tulle opera coat. The dress, which requires 450 hours to embroider by hand, features iridescent sequins in five different sizes that create a sky effect.

Allison Williams wore a black and white floral Chinese jacquard couture dress from the Michael Kors collection with hand-embroidered recycled sequins. Artisans spent 2,110 hours hand-embroidering thousands of sequins, in six different sizes, in an overlapping pattern to create a floral shadow design, giving the dress total iridescence.

Alexander Dreymon wore a custom Michael Kors men's white wool tuxedo jacket with satin lapels and black wool twill pants. The organza flower boutonniere was handmade by cutting and stamping individual fabric petals.

Kelsea Ballerini wore a tan tulle couture dress from the Michael Kors collection with scattered floral appliqués and a matching peach taffeta clutch jacket. It took eight artisans more than 3,550 hours to hand-sew the appliqués on the singer's dress and another 2,880 hours to hand-sew the appliques on the matching hand-made jacket. The flowers, scattered across the dress in three different sizes and shades, were hand-dyed and individually laser cut for a realistic look.

Chase Stokes wore a custom Michael Kors Collection black sequined georgette jacket and matching pants, which together featured tens of thousands of sequins.
