Pre-autumn Retrofête 2024 – World Water Day

During New York Fashion Week in September, Retrofête co-founder and creative director Ohad Seroya and his partner Aviad Klin presented their brand's spring collection for the first time on the runway. But while Seroya looked to his childhood memories for inspiration for that collection, he leaned into Ibiza-inspired escapism for his latest pre-fall line.

Seroya described the collection as calmer and more organic, which manifested itself in simpler all-white looks that continued to maintain the brand's glamorous, maximalist DNA with pretty accents in pearls and tonal sequins (also great options for alternative brides). The signature sparkle was seen on mermaid-inspired sequin dresses or additional sequin-decorated looks in pastel and sand tones, such as a tiny bikini top and matching shorts (worn with simple linen buttons); breezy, strapless minidresses and ombré fishnet-inspired dresses.

“I want to feel the sun touching my skin. It’s about the spray tan, the sun and the highlights,” she said of the sun-kissed looks, which played more subtly into the brand’s more-is-more ethos.

Seroya's craftsmanship and optimistic lens continued to elevate the collection through hand embroidery, also seen through a beige mini dress with custom shell and starfish lace or brown dresses with raffia hem, crystal details or straps of wooden beads.

Additionally, the creative director said '90s sartorial inspiration was key, as seen in a mix of updated, street-minded denim silhouettes and linen blazers; nautical striped fabrics; combinations with floral, paisley and leopard prints (which worked well in tonal, muted beach tones) and little party dresses focused on Mykonos and Ibiza.
