Homme Plissé Issey Miyake Men's Fall 2024 Collection

Homme Plissé Issey Miyake sent a strong, conceptual collection, full of delicious colors and textures, onto the runway for fall. It was conceived after exchanges with French designer and artist Ronan Bouroullec, marking the brand's first creative collaboration.

“As a design team, we are drawn to Ronan's drawings. There is something poetic in his work and in this collection,” said Homme Plissé Issey Miyake design team. His idea was to integrate his design into the garments, but not as a motif or pattern.

The progression of the exhibition's views channeled the idea that art was first seen from afar, before diving deeply into the work itself. Items of clothing hung on the white walls of the Palais de Tokyo, further blurring the line between art, design and fashion.

“It's like we're locked in, wrapped up in work. And within that world we are playing with its materials,” the team said.

He called the collection “Immersed in the nature of creativity.” And that was it. The opening look, featuring a pleated white blouse, was the canvas for the swirling colors of orange, brown and green. The quality of the brushstrokes was evident.

Asymmetry was rife as sleeves and hems seemed extruded in other looks, also mixing hues for a charming effect. These also appeared on oversized pants, shirts, and ponchos. The “padded coat” could be folded into a pocket that looked like a pillow.

A raspberry-hued jacket was worn over a brown button-down shirt, a burgundy top, and a salmon-colored turtleneck along with orange pants, all pleated. It sounds busy, but as with the rest of the collection, it was just surprising.
