Dsquared2 Resort 2025 Ready-to-Wear and Collection Review

For resort 2025, Dean and Dan Caten continued the entertaining concept they showed last January for fall 2024, when the duo recruited identical twins to walk day and night looks on the runway. Its concise lineup was divided into three segments, which amplified its sense of simplicity. The designers' eclectic mixing and matching of distinctive layers was tamed here in favor of instant accessibility.

Cue the opening portion that references the duo's Canadian roots and outdoor living with nods to camping and mountain hiking. Lumberjack checks, belted denim jackets, as well as stonewashed jeans and low-rise chinos with a worn-in feel, were easy to pull off and were completed with faded hoodies and accessories developed with Invicta as part of the second collaboration between the brands.

The core segment targeted urban living through a handful of stylish looks that oozed Dsquared2-style work vibes, thus imbued with a bold and confident attitude. Tailoring came with crisp lines and elongated proportions, while the Catens' denim expertise was elevated with oversized cuts, washes and camouflage effects that channeled a sense of rawness.

A more polished aesthetic marked the closing night proposal, which played with black, white and gold tones. The restrained color palette and essential silhouettes, which ranged from sheer pussy-bow shirts and rhinestone-embellished HotPants to a wool tuxedo and a strapless dress with a plunging side slit, highlighted the duo's skill with more elegant

Unfortunately, not even the luxurious feel of this segment could make up for the overall lack of excitement and unpredictability.
