Collection Review and Ready to Wear Sportmax Resort 2025

There's a new badge at Sportmax that makes its debut with the resort 2025 collection and will become a regular feature of its lineups in the future: a serpentine buckle that nods to the brand's initial and highlights the latest looks and accessories designed by its internal team.

Crafted in shiny metal or covered in crystals, the new hardware injected a maximalist touch into the brand's signature sleek, minimalist DNA, imbuing a charming tension between these two approaches. As for the concise range, it skipped any particular inspiration and narrative to focus on wardrobe solutions that ranged from '80s silhouettes to svelte '90s shapes.

The previous era came in the form of bright pieces and large volumes that exuded a strong and confident attitude. Knitted jackets and coats coated with a crocodile-embossed film had a lush feel, enhanced by the shawl collar that sensually highlighted the collarbones. While this shape was also seen in beautiful red and black wool coats that affirmed the company's expertise, the concept was stretched too thin in a leather jacket, whose exaggerated wrap-around effect didn't turn out as well.

The more stylized looks respected the brand's 90s soul, which shined especially in the last part of the range. Here, nude essentials were made from a synthetic alternative to leather or studded with iron-on rhinestones. Elsewhere, references to the decade ranged from ribbed-knit dresses punctuated by chiffon sleeves and gold studs to a monochrome maxi dress made from a scuba-like fabric.

Tailoring bridged the two periods, whether with short jackets and roomy, high-waisted trousers in striped suits or in longer, narrower proportions in slimmer ones in chalk tones.

A red suit cinched by S-shaped buckles and a leopard print covering a trench coat and long wrap dress in satin twill easily made the biggest impact, revealing that maximalist outbursts also fit well in the Sportmax world.
