First formalized in 1980 and then re-established after a brief break in the 1998/1999 season, the partnership between adidas and Real Madrid has seen the club become the most successful club on the European stage, achieving eight UEFA MEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE trophies in this period wearing the Three Stripes.
With more than 35 years of partnership, the collaboration has been defined by designs that honor the history, culture and fan base of Real Madrid. From best-in-class technical performance apparel that has supported athletes such as Zinedine Zidane, Toni Kroos, David Beckham and Jude Bellingham on the field of play, to cultural apparel that allows fans to bring their support to all aspects of life, the partnership has created some of the most famous sportswear in the game.
Adidas and Real Madrid football club have extended their partnership for a further eight years, strengthening one of football's longest-standing commercial alliances. The collaboration spans the men's, women's, academic, Genuine and basketball teams. Backed by decades of sporting success, the renewed agreement aims to strengthen performance innovation, merchandising growth and global fan engagement.
Among the most famous designs were the gold-trimmed home shirt of 2011/2012, which reflected the club's royal status during a record-breaking LaLiga season, and the legendary Centenario home shirt of 2001/2002, an ultra-clean, all-white masterpiece immortalized by Zinedine Zidane's winning goal in the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE final.
The new deal comes shortly after the launch of Real Madrid's new home shirt, a design that brings to the fore the finer details of the club's crest with bold green and striking pink accents.
The agreement also includes the Academy and Genuine teams, the rapidly growing Real Madrid women's team and the Real Madrid Baloncesto team, the most successful basketball franchise in Europe.
Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, stated: “This agreement that we signed today is the most important in the history of football. The strategic alliance between Real Madrid and adidas has helped us live, throughout these three decades, one of the most wonderful stages in our history. It has also allowed us to continue feeding this universal feeling known as madridismo.”
Bjørn Gulden, CEO of adidas For their huge fan base around the world, we will create exciting lifestyle products that allow them to show their passion and support for the club, both in the stadiums and on the streets.
