SOTOGRANDE, Spain — Sergio Garcia earned his first individual victory at LIV Golf on Sunday after the Spaniard beat overnight leader Anirban Lahiri in a playoff for the Andalusia title.
Garcia thrilled the home fans with a 5-under 66 to equal Lahiri and force a playoff with both players at 5-under overall.
This was Garcia's first title since joining the new Saudi-backed LIV circuit in 2022.
Jon Rahm, another local favorite, finished tied for 10th in his first home event since joining LIV Golf.
Garcia's Fireballs also won the team title at the tournament in southern Spain after winning a playoff against the Crushers, the first time at a LIV golf tournament that the individual and team titles were decided in a playoff.
