It already looks like we're in the postseason in Atlanta.
The New York Mets are in Georgia to take on the NL East rival Braves, and the stakes are high.
Postseason spots are at stake, and for the Mets, it's simple: If they win the series, they'll play in October.

The Mets added rookie shortstop Luis Angel Acuña, younger brother of Braves superstar outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr., to their lineup this season.
The infielder told reporters he has about 15 family members in town for Tuesday night's game, and says the family has an easygoing interest in cheering them on.
“I don't play. My brother doesn't play,” he said through an interpreter.
The older brother, the reigning National League MVP, tore his ACL earlier this year, ending his season. It's the same injury he suffered in 2021, but Atlanta ended up winning the World Series that year.

Entering the series, the Mets are two games ahead of Atlanta and the season series is tied at five. Therefore, if the Mets win this three-game series, that would ensure that Atlanta cannot overtake them in the standings. New York has a record of 87-69, while the Braves have a record of 85-71.
Two years ago, the Mets and Braves were in a similar situation. Although both teams had already clinched their postseason berths when they met in late September, the division title was at stake. The Braves swept New York, sending the Mets into the wild-card round, where they lost.

The latest series may face some delays due to weather conditions due to a storm expected to hit the Southeast on Wednesday and Thursday.
A contingency plan has not yet been announced, but options could include a doubleheader on Monday or moving the series to a different location.
