Momentum is in full swing for Team USA following their victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32.

And what was originally a bittersweet ending in the San Francisco Bay Area due to forward Folarin Balogun's red card has since changed thanks to FIFA's announcement that the USMNT star will be eligible to play in the round of 16 against Belgium on Monday night.

Balogun's controversial red card, which came in the 64th minute of a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, changed the trajectory of the USMNT's hopes of reaching the World Cup final. After all, Balogun has been the perfect striker for this team since the start of the tournament, securing his third World Cup goal in the round of 32.

However, Balogun will now be available for the USA in a surprising turn following the uproar over his red card.

The Athletic, which first reported on Balogun's playing status on Sunday, noted that part of FIFA's disciplinary code is that “the judicial body may decide to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure.”

“If the beneficiary of a suspended sanction commits another infraction of a similar nature and severity during the trial period, the suspension will be revoked by the judicial body and the sanction will be executed without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new infraction,” the rule adds.

FOX Sports also confirmed that Balogun could play. The report noted that the play should not have been flagged to head referee Raphael Claus, who ultimately gave Balogun the red card after a VAR review.

In turn, head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be able to run with his usual starting eleven instead of having to decide what to do with Balogun.

On the other hand, Belgium was 10 minutes plus stoppage time away from an upset against Senegal in the round of 32. Senegal had a 2-0 lead at the end of the second half, but Belgium was able to force overtime with some decisive goals from Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans.

In extra time, just before a penalty shootout appeared to be the only way to resolve the deadlock, Senegal fouled in their own area and Tielemans was awarded a penalty to decide the game. The veteran did not waste the opportunity and Belgium kept its World Cup alive.

Now, both teams will meet in Seattle, which created an electric atmosphere during the USMNT's victory over Australia in the group stage. It is expected to be even louder as the United States aims to achieve what only one team in its history has done before: reach the quarterfinals.
