Selena Harris, the 2024 Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year, was released from UCLA on Tuesday and is now in the transfer portal, the school confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.
Harris, a 12-time All-American, has two years of eligibility remaining and was among the Bruins' top gymnasts during her two seasons at Westwood.
UCLA did not specify why Harris was fired.
Harris, 20, also did not speak publicly about his firing, but republished a post on X on Wednesday that said he was in the transfer portal. Harris he wrote in his repost, “shhhh.” He also removed mention of UCLA gymnastics from the bio sections of her X and Instagram profiles.
Harris, the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 freshman class, earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors in his debut season. During the 2024 season, Harris earned four perfect scores, won the Pac-12 overall title at the conference championships in March and finished the regular season tied for the nation's No. 1 ranking on vault.
Harris was one of two UCLA gymnasts to qualify as individuals for the NCAA Championships after the team failed to advance and she finished tied for third on the balance beam.
