Allyson Felix, the most decorated Olympic track and field athlete of all time, wants one more chance to add more medals to her illustrious career.
The 40-year-old told Time that she will return with hopes of participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will be held in her hometown.
“A lot of us have been told not to do something big and bold,” Felix told the outlet about his return. “You know, at this age, I should probably stay home and take care of my kids, do all that. And just, why not? Let's turn it around. Let's go after the thing. Let's be vulnerable.”

Felix will be 42 when the Olympic Games begin in Los Angeles, but the winner of 11 Olympic medals, including seven gold, in five different Games has seen others over 40 do what many consider impossible. Felix mentioned Tom Brady, LeBron James and Lindsey Vonn during the interview.
He wants to overcome the age barrier, believing he may have one last chance at Olympic glory.

If Felix made the Olympic team at age 42, she would be the first American sprinter to reach the Games at age 40. And considering that his specialty is sprinting, it will be quite a feat with the group of talents he will face.
Sha'Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Gabby Thomas and more will be vying for spots on the Olympic team in 2028. But that clearly won't deter Felix, whom many of these women have likely admired since she burst onto the Olympic scene in Athens in 2004.

Félix won silver that year in the 200-meter dash. Then, during the 2008 Beijing Games, he won gold with the 4×400-meter relay team, while taking home silver in the 200-meter dash.
Felix reached the peak of his running powers during the London Games, taking gold in the 200 meters, the 4×100 meter relay and the 4×400 meter relay. He was part of the team in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo before announcing his retirement after the 2022 track season.
Felix has since been inducted into the US Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame in 2025, while serving on the International Olympic Committee Athletes Commission and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Board of Directors.
So while Félix is heavily involved in the US Games, she wants to get back on track.

Felix returned to running competitively last year, but said he will begin training seriously to return to the Olympics in October.
If in the end Félix does not make the team, he said he will be present at the 2028 Los Angeles Games with his children to cheer on those representing the Stars and Stripes.
