To the editor: Thanks to letter writer Julie Atherton of Tustin for writing about civility in the shopping cart return debate. It's encouraging to know that there are others who share my feelings about the terrible degradation of our behavior.
Last week on the highway a nice Audi passed me on the right; On the back of the car was a bumper sticker that said, “Fuck Your Feelings.”
Leslie Dobson, the person whose confrontational TikTok post started this discussion, is a psychologist and therefore highly educated. However, she told people who didn't like her opinion to “fuck off.”
Unfortunately, I already expected so much rudeness and hostility in the community. And to answer the question of the author of the letter, indeed, we have resorted to rudeness.
