President Donald Trump said Saturday that a U.S. military strike this week destroyed a “very large drug-carrying submarine” in the Caribbean, killing two suspected narcoterrorists and capturing two others alive, as he released video of the attack.
In a statement published on Truth Social, Trump said the ship was primarily transporting “fentanyl and other narcotics” to the United States on a “known drug trafficking transit route.” He claimed the interdiction prevented up to 25,000 American overdose deaths.
“It was my great honor to destroy a large DRUG SUBMARINE,” Trump wrote. “US intelligence confirmed that this ship was loaded primarily with fentanyl… There were four known narco-terrorists on board. Two of the terrorists were killed.”
“The two surviving terrorists are being returned to their home countries, Ecuador and Colombia, for detention and prosecution.”

Fox News previously confirmed that two survivors were rescued by the US Navy after the attack and were being held aboard a US warship. Trump's statement is the first official recognition of their identities and nationalities.
The attack marked the sixth U.S. interdiction of a ship suspected of drug smuggling since combat operations began in the Caribbean last month. The Pentagon has not publicly named the operation.
Trump publicly referenced the attack for the first time during a meeting Friday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.

“We attacked a submarine, and that was a drug-carrying submarine built specifically to transport massive quantities of drugs,” he told reporters.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking separately on Friday, did not dispute the existence of survivors but said more details would come later.
