Saquon Barkley is no longer concerned about the New York Giants' woes, but he reached out to his former quarterback following their brutal Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Barkley is already shining with the Philadelphia Eagles. The star running back scored three touchdowns to help his new team defeat the Green Bay Packers last Friday.
With some free time to watch some games on Sunday, Barkley saw what happened to Jones and the criticism he received from fans afterward.

Eagles reporters asked Barkley at his locker before Week 2 if he communicated with Jones after the poor game and scrutiny.
“I was there for six years. I have a lot of friends there, so I have no bad feelings for them,” Barkley told ESPN. “Hopefully, they can bounce back.”

“I talked to him. I'm really good friends with DJ. Obviously, he didn't have the game he wanted. All I told him was to go out and play freely.”
Barkley consistently defended Jones over the years as the quarterback struggled to find the consistency to lead the Giants' offense. Jones liked having Barkley in the backfield, as any quarterback does, but New York struggled to find wins.
However, during the 2022 season, a healthy Barkley and an efficient Jones helped the Giants not only make the playoffs but also defeat the Vikings in the wild card round. The Giants were eventually defeated in Philadelphia by the eventual NFC champion Eagles.
The Giants and their fan base are hoping Jones looks like he's playing free as Barkley mentioned during their Week 2 matchup against the Washington Commanders, a team that was defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.
