President Biden will arrive in Los Angeles on Saturday as part of a whirlwind trip west.
The president will make a stopover here before heading to Nevada on Sunday, where he will participate in a political event, the White House Press Office confirmed. Deadline reported that first lady Jill Biden will join the president to speak with Black leaders in the entertainment industry about his support for her re-election bid. The Bidens are visiting the day before the 66th Grammy Awards.
While Biden is in Los Angeles on Saturday, his supporters across the country in South Carolina will head to the polls on the first official day of the 2024 Democratic primary. The Democratic National Party decided to change the primary schedule this year to make South Carolina the first. state to hold elections, instead of New Hampshire, which previously hosted the first Democratic primary on the calendar.
However, Biden supporters in New Hampshire ran a write-in campaign for the president, who won handily last week. The incumbent president is expected to win the Democratic nomination by a wide margin over lesser candidates in the race, such as Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson.
The president's next stop in Las Vegas on Sunday will come just before Tuesday's Democratic primary in Nevada. Nevada Republicans will cast their votes later this week.
