Mohamed Salah broke a Premier League record in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Ipswich on Saturday.

Five minutes after setting up Diogo Jota for a goal, 32-year-old Saleh headed home from close range in the 65th minute, taking his tally of goals in the first round of a Premier League season to nine.

Salah had previously shared the record for most goals in the first round with a trio of English football greats (Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard) on eight.

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 and was a key part of Liverpool's 2019-20 season, when they were top of the table.

Across seven seasons with Liverpool, Salah has scored 155 goals and registered 68 assists.

Liverpool's win over Ipswich marked their first game under manager Arne Slot, who replaced veteran coach Jürgen Klopp who stepped away during the off-season.

Sheeran watched the match from a VIP box at Portman Road.

Liverpool's game against Ipswich was the first of many to be played on the opening day of the Premier League. With this victory, Liverpool joined Manchester United, who beat Fulham 1-0 on Friday, and started the season on the right foot.
