Inglewood music festival sparks complaints heard and felt miles away

Complaints began early Friday afternoon on social media platforms including Reddit and X, and continued into Saturday evening.

The loud music and throbbing bass could be heard and felt throughout the Westside of Los Angeles, from Culver City to Manhattan Beach.

“Is there anything anyone can do? Or are we all going to be screwed until 11pm tonight and 10pm tomorrow?” one Reddit user asked.

“Where is this coming from? This is so annoying!” posted another.

The source of the deafening disruption was the Hard Summer music festival, held at Hollywood Park next to Inglewood's SoFi Stadium. The festival features techno, house and dubstep music and was expected to attract around 70,000 attendees a day.

The El Segundo Police Department said it received several noise complaints on Saturday.

“We are aware of the loud noise affecting the city,” the department said. published in X“The incident was at a music festival near SoFi Stadium. There is no need to call 911 to report the incident.”

The department had not received any complaints as of noon Sunday, Sgt. Russel Patton said, but the festival was scheduled to begin again at 2 p.m.

The Inglewood Police Department did not respond to a request for comment.

Hard Summer, founded in 2007, featured a lineup this year that included Nelly Furtado, Disclosure and Rezzmau5. Festival organizers have not publicly acknowledged the noise complaints and did not respond to a request for comment.

“This is the loudest party I have ever seen,” wrote one resident at X. “I have never heard anything like it.”

Even miles away from Hollywood Park, Los Angeles residents said they could hear loud music and feel severe vibrations. One reported feeling vibrations in his home, four miles away.

“I assumed someone in my apartment was having a party upstairs,” wrote one Reddit user.

Police forces in the surrounding area did not indicate they would take any action to stop the festival or control noise levels. The festival ends at 10pm on Sunday.
