Delta motor flames captured in video; Jet lands safely in Lax

The fire exploded in an engine of a Delta Air Lines plane just after takeoff at the end of last week at Los Angeles International Airport, but after a quick change, the plane landed safely.

Flight 446, which was on its way from Lax to Atlanta on Friday afternoon, made a circuit and landed around 2:10 pm, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, which said the incident would be investigated.

The Boeing 767-400 had 226 passengers on board, along with two pilots and seven hostesses. Shortly after takeoff, the crew received an “indication of a problem with the left engine of the plane,” according to Delta.

By chance, a camera operator for flights, a YouTube channel that is broadcast live that enter and leave Lax, caught Delta 446 just when his engine caught fire. The video shows the plane in the sky with flames shooting from its left engine.

“Whoa. Wait, that's not good,” says the camera operator while the flames continue to explode. “Oh my God.” Minutes later, the video shows that the plane lands safely while fire trucks accelerate towards it. The plane was able to return to the door in their own power, and the passengers were reserved on other flights.

Later, the people who claim to be passengers or relatives of the passengers published comments in the video.

“I was on this flight, sitting in the middle hall,” a person wrote. “I couldn't see smoke or fire, but some people saw it. It was really scary during those 10 minutes! Everyone remained very calm, even if we were panic internally. Very grateful to be on land now!”

Another person, who said that his daughter was on the plane, added: “The flight crew was exceptional and calm all the time. Congratulations to everyone for the safe return of all on board.”
