A group of health workers in Santa Barbara was fired on Wednesday after publishing a video that apparently showed the body fluids of patients on Tiktok, according to their employer.
The position now eliminated, carried out by a former employee of the Sansum Clinic, a non -profit ambulatory care center owned by Sutter Health, showed eight workers who make fun of what seemed to be the body fluid of patients in the exams with the legend on screen, “Are the patients who leave gifts to you?” And “Be sure to leave your health workers as these!” In an image, medical staff is seen pointing and smiling in a place with the thumbs up. The title says: “Guess the substance!”
A spokesman for the Health Health Health Health System said that, although the original poster was not an employee at the time the video was published, others who appeared in it had been finished.
“This unacceptable behavior is a direct violation of our policies, shows a lack of respect for our patients and will not be tolerated,” said the company in a statement shared with the times.
The video spread over the weekend on platforms such as X, Instagram and Reddit, which caused an effusion of anger among commentators along the way.
“There is no place to embarrass the patient in medicine,” wrote a user in Reddit.
“My question is what is the culture of your clinic because why many employees felt comfortable participating in this?” Another user asked on Instagram.
According to an online statement From Sansum Clinic, officials were notified of the position by concerned patients and immediately made a video review.
“Within 24 hours after the appointment of the positions, we place the employees on administrative license, and within another 24 hours, we end with those involved,” the health system published.
The video was eliminated shortly after it was published once the commentators questioned the ethics of the participants. But it was reimbursed by other accounts and spread even more through “stitches” of individuals who react to the post on Tiktok and other platforms.
A Sansum spokesman said the clinic remained firmly committed to the privacy and dignity of the patient.
“We hope that all team members live our patient mission and maintain the highest standards of compassion, professionalism and respect,” he said. “We are using this inappropriate incident to reinforce our comprehensive policies with all the members of our team throughout the organization.”
