Victoria Beckham takes advantage of her son Brooklyn's birthday tribute to praise her skills as a mother

Victoria Beckham has wished Brooklyn Beckham a happy birthday in the most Posh Spice way.

The fashion designer, 49, took to Instagram on March 4 to share a birthday tribute to her eldest son in honor of his 25th birthday. In her first post, Victoria shared a sweet video of a young man from Brooklyn singing alongside her father, David Beckham, at a Spice Girls concert.

“Happy birthday Brooklyn. “We all love you so much,” he captioned the video. “Generous, funny, talented and with the kindest and most generous heart. We are very proud of the son, big brother and husband that you are. You always put everyone before yourself. Your love and energy is so special and touches everyone you meet. We love you!!!!!”

However, in her second post, Victoria took the opportunity to praise herself and her husband David for their parenting skills. “Today we celebrate Brooklyn turning 25!!! David, I love you very much and I am very proud of the parents that we are,” she wrote alongside a photo of the couple, married since 1999, posing with the aspiring chef.

“We are a good team !!!! Happy birthday,” Victoria added.

Unsurprisingly, her birthday tribute received a lot of funny responses from Instagram followers, who pointed out that she had made Brooklyn's birthday post about herself, whether accidentally or not.

“Strange choice of words on your son’s birthday!” commented one Instagram user.

“Why do I find this title so funny?” said another.

“Today is about Brooklyn, not you, Vic,” a third person said, along with a crying-laughing emoji.

Some people criticized the mother of four for using Brooklyn's birthday tribute to congratulate her and David on their parenting skills.

“How peculiar that this post is directed at how amazing he is,” one person said. “Maybe we should tell all our kids this when it's their birthday.”

Another asked: “How's that for David?”

Despite the backlash, many fans defended the former Spice Girls member by pointing out that it's hard to start a family, let alone be the center of attention.

“I love this perspective. It's so fucking hard to raise a child and we should, as parents, celebrate OUR achievement of making a child have another birthday,” one user responded. “Yes, it's great for them, but it's also nice to take a moment to celebrate yourself and your partnership with your co-parent.”

“Why do you leave messages if it's just to criticize?” another fan wrote. “Victoria is very proud of her son, she says so, and furthermore, it is thanks to the education of her parents, David and Victoria… Why do you always seek to find unnecessary faults!”

Meanwhile, the former Manchester United player shared his own birthday tribute in Brooklyn on Monday. On Instagram, he posted a video of a Brooklyn boy on the soccer field with his father. David was seen dressed in his distinctive red shirt and sporting his iconic haircut, while baby Brooklyn matched his dad in a Manchester United long-sleeved mini shirt.

“Happy 25th birthday to my eldest son, I am very proud of the man you have become and you have always maintained the same values you grew up with: being polite and kind,” wrote the co-owner of Inter Miami. “We love you so much, have an amazing day.”

These days, Brooklyn has married the 29-year-old model Nicola Peltz. The couple tied the knot during a lavish Palm Beach wedding in April 2022. In honor of his birthday, the last airbender The actress shared a photo of her and her husband walking in the rain, while Brooklyn held an umbrella over their heads.

“Happy birthday @brooklynpeltzbeckham. I hope all your wishes come true,” she captioned the Instagram post on Monday. “I love you so much. You have the most beautiful heart and I am so lucky to call you mine.”

In addition to Brooklyn, David and Victoria share three other children: Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19, and daughter Harper, 12.
