'The Bear' and 7 more shows to watch on television this week


Between streaming and cable, viewers have a seemingly endless variety of things to watch. Here's a selection of TV shows and specials airing or streaming this week, June 22-28. Details and times are subject to change.

Sometimes you have to look back and laugh. Larry David does exactly that in “Life, Larry and the pursuit of unhappiness,“, a seven-episode comedy series that parodies different moments in American history. Along with David, the Obamas are among the executive producers. Expect witty one-liners and notable cameos, many of which are sure to delight history buffs and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fans alike. It begins streaming Friday at 9 pm on HBO Max.

Earth, water, fire and air. Netflix live action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” returns for its second season as Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) continue their campaign against the evil Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim), who is plotting to rule the elemental nations of the world. While there have been debates among fans about whether this adaptation lives up to Nickelodeon's hit animated series from 2005, the consensus is that a wave of nostalgia for viewers remains strong. It begins streaming Thursday on Netflix.

You have two options: “Love it or write it.” One of HGTV's longest-running shows enters its 21st season with David Visentin, a real estate agent on a mission to convince homeowners to sell the homes they feel they've outgrown and move on, while Page Turner, a broker and home renovator, is determined to convince homeowners that with a few renovations and a change of perspective, the homes they already have are the ones they should keep. Tuesdays at 8 pm on HGTV. Episodes will be released weekly and will be available to stream on HBO Max the next day.

Chef, are you okay? The Emmy-winning series “The Bear” comes to an end with its fifth season starting this week. The events of a single day unfold over eight episodes as sous chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) weathers the storm, literally and figuratively, after chef Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) announces his plan to step away from the restaurant. With a kitchen depleted of morale and money, the few remaining struggle to keep their Michelin star dreams alive. “'Yes, Chef' is the stupidest thing that ever came out of there,” Matty Matheson, who plays the restaurant's maintenance staff, said in an interview with The New York Times. “There are bank (expletives) commercials that say 'Yes, Chef.'” Thursdays at 9pm on FX and available to stream on Hulu.

Grab your sleeping bag, pack your sunscreen, and join Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts, along with Charlie Brown and the rest of the crew, as they head to Camp Spring Lake, hoping for an unforgettable experience. Consider “Camp Snoopy” An animated series based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz, a seasonal palate cleanser as they explore the outdoors, debate hot dogs versus hamburgers, earn their explorer badges and soak up the sun. A friendly reminder: always leave a place cleaner than you found it. It begins streaming Friday on Apple TV.

For its 26th ceremony, the BET Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with MC Lyte returning as announcer and Druski as host. The evening is intended to honor the careers and achievements of Lauryn Hill, Teyana Taylor and music executive Sylvia Rhone. Cardi B, who is among the artists scheduled to perform, leads the pack with six nominations. He is followed by Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist, nominated for five awards each, and the Knicks' own Jalen Brunson is nominated for Athlete of the Year. Sunday at 8 pm on BET.

It's a big week for drafts. First of all, Malika Andrews will host the NBA Draft 2026 to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where the opening pick of the night goes to the Washington Wizards. The first round begins Tuesday at 8 pm on ESPN and ABC. The second round begins Wednesday at 8 pm on ESPN.

Later in the week, the 2026 NHL draft It takes place at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, where the Toronto Maple Leafs will be the first to make a selection. The first round begins on Friday at 7 pm on ESPN, with subsequent rounds on Saturday at 11 am on ESPN+.
