Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri has defended Oliva Culpo over the controversy surrounding the model's modest wedding dress.

The 39-year-old actor wrote about the backlash to Culpo's Rhode Island wedding, which was featured in Fashion Last month, in a recent blog post, Amurri published her article shortly after social media users claimed that her own wedding dress (which she wore during her private wedding to chef Ian Hock) was inappropriate.

In June, Culpo walked down the aisle in a white, long-sleeved, scoop-neck gown that completely covered her body. Fashion She said she chose this look because she “didn’t want it to exude sex in any way.” However, some internet users claimed the model’s minimal makeup, modest dress and comments gave off “‘pick me’ vibes,” a term used to refer to a woman seeking male validation.

In her latest blog, Amurri confessed that when she was “processing” some of the rude comments she received from “strangers” about her wedding dress, “someone texted her” about the controversy surrounding Culpo’s look. While she later noted that the influencer got married on the same day as her, Amurri noted that their dresses were nothing alike.

“I clicked on [Culpo’s wedding feature inVogue] “And I immediately saw Olivia looking stunning in what can only be described as the exact opposite of my own wedding dress. Very covered, simple with no embellishments, a princess skirt and long sleeves,” wrote Amurri, who wore a strapless Kim Kassas gown with a plunging neckline at her wedding.

The model praised Culpo for achieving some of her wedding goals, such as dressing modestly. While she said Culpo's look radiated “true confidence, peace and happiness,” she added that the model should not have had to face comments from critics about her appearance on the wedding day.

“She had done what she set out to do, and her day was absolutely perfect for her and her new husband,” Amurri wrote, referring to the influencer’s partner, NFL star Christian McCaffrey. “When I looked at pictures of Olivia on her wedding day (and by the way, I don’t know her at all), I wasn’t looking at whether her dress would be right or wrong for ME, I was looking at a woman moving gracefully and powerfully into the next chapter of her life, and doing it on her own terms, on HER DAY.”

While recalling some of the criticisms of Culpo's look, the Monarch The star also questioned what “society” has become.

Amurri then reiterated that women should not be told what is right and what is not right to wear at their own weddings.

“Two women got married on the same day dressed very differently, and neither was ‘right.’ Neither was good enough. They both made a mistake. They both should be ashamed. Or at least, if you spend any time on the internet, that’s what we’re supposed to think,” she wrote. “If I was a ‘slut’ and she was a ‘nun,’ how does anyone win? What does anyone win these days? If there are two women getting married on the same day, each feeling beautiful and exactly like themselves… isn’t that the prize?”

Earlier this month, Sarandon's eldest daughter responded to critics who claimed her dress was inappropriate for her wedding ceremony. “To anyone who was shocked by the fact that my boobs weren't 'put away'…” she wrote, alongside a photo of herself and her husband.

She then shared a zoomed-in image of her chest on an Instagram Story, with the caption: “Feel free to screenshot for later,” along with a kissy face emoji.

Days after the wedding, Amurri said People That’s why she chose the wedding dress in the first place. “I love the vintage feel and how ultra-feminine it is without being too bulky,” she said. “I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance.”

Meanwhile, Culpo and McCaffrey have also addressed the controversy surrounding their wedding. Last month, they responded to wedding stylist Kennedy Bingham's viral TikTok video, in which she claimed that the “way we [Culpo] I was talking about [her dress]”She was “promoting this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.” Bingham also alleged that Culpo's comments about the dress appeared to be “promoting and pushing this conservative agenda.”

“Wow, what an evil person you are. I hope no one rips you to shreds like this because it is extremely painful. I love this dress and it was everything I wanted and more,” the model wrote in the comments on Bingham’s video.

The 28-year-old San Francisco 49ers player also defended his wife in the comments section of the post, writing: “What a mean thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, like my beautiful wife does.”
