Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela, the world's first mega musical on Shri Krishna, premieres at NMACC


Rajadhiraaj all set for its premiere at NMACC- The Grand Theatre.

At the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, revel in the unparalleled musical spectacle that brings to life the grandeur of Shri Krishna’s journey.

The world’s first mega musical on Shri Krishna, “Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela”, conceptualized and created by Dhanraj Nathwani, will enthrall audiences with unique theatrical experiences, bringing to life the magnanimity and benevolence of Shri Krishna. The musical, to be staged at the Grand Theatre at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, will have a runtime of 120 minutes and will run daily from August 15 to September 1, 2024.

This enchanting musical is written by visionary Indian lyricist, screenwriter and Padma Shri awardee Prasoon Joshi and delves into the untold stories of Shri Krishna, offering a vivid insight into Shri Krishna’s dual journeys from Vraj to Mewar and Mathura to Dwarka, portrayed through spectacular visuals and a cast of over 100 artists.

Featuring over 60 dynamic dancers and over 40 actors under the direction of Shruti Sharma, the musical masterpiece weaves together the two journeys of Shri Krishna as Shrinathji and his majestic incarnation as Rajadhiraaj Dwarkadhish together on stage for the first time.

From Krishna’s humorous adventures as the mischievous cowherd in Gokul, which endears him to the villagers, to his profound role as the wise charioteer who imparts the eternal wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the musical vividly captures the essence of Krishna’s multifaceted personality in a mesmerizing manner. An unprecedented musical that weaves together the journeys of Shri Krishna, Shrinathji and Dwarkadheesh, brought together on stage for the first time.

Its appeal is further enhanced by a soulful soundtrack containing 20 original songs composed by the great music composers Sachin-Jigar, combining Indian classical music with a Western symphony orchestra, along with Haveli Sangeet, Rajasthani and Gujarati folk and Hindustani semi-classical genres.

Award-winning Bollywood production designer Omung Kumar weaves scenes that transport viewers to ancient India. Celebrated costume designer Neeta Lulla, renowned for her work on several popular Indian films, brings mythical characters to life with her masterful craftsmanship. Through over 1,800 meticulously crafted costumes adorned with 5,000 floral headdresses, she elegantly displays their divine joy, courage and profound philosophical depth, enhancing the visual spectacle.

Choreographers Bertwin D'Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna's exquisite dance sequences further immerse audiences in the multifaceted world of Krishna, creating a vibrant and captivating depiction of the beloved deity's journey. Shampa Gopikrishna continues the legacy of his late father, the legendary Natraj Shri Gopikrishna, a Kathak maestro and choreographer.

With captivating storytelling, dazzling visuals and soulful live music, executive producer Bhoomi Nathwani ensures a deeply immersive experience. The show is creatively produced by Parthiv Gohil and Viral Rachh, both seasoned veterans in music and theatre, while National Award-winning writer Raam Mori has meticulously contributed to the exhaustive story research of the project. With a cast of over 100 performers, Rajadhiraaj promises to be an enchanting depiction of Shri Krishna’s Leela.
