Mother recounts her three-year-old daughter's snowboarding trip

A mother from Park City, Utah, has documented teaching her daughter to snowboard.

In a series of videos shared on TikTok, Sandy Hango has been showing her daughter Evelyn how to snowboard since she was three days old. When Evelyn turned two on March 2, Sandy reflected on how she has been chronicling her daughter's snowboarding journey for the past few years.

“As a former preschool teacher, I always encouraged parents to start activities with their children as young as possible,” Hango explained to People. “Children are sponges and will absorb everything you do. My daughter absorbed all the love for snowboarding and I couldn't be happier!

Hango, an avid snowboarder since fifth grade, was eager to hit the slopes with her baby. At first, she tied it to her chest while she did “some runs on bunny hill” when Evelyn was just two months old. While Evelyn was learning to walk, Hango began showing her how to balance on a mini snowboard at home.

When asked if she was nervous about hitting the slopes with her daughter, she told the outlet that she “would never have taken her out if I didn't feel 100 percent comfortable.”

Hango showed how much progress Evelyn has made since her first ride in a TikTok video viewed by over 3.8 million people, sharing at the time that her daughter has now transitioned to wearing bindings at just 11 months old. Nowadays, Evelyn is comfortable gliding alone.

“My favorite thing about snowboarding with my daughter is seeing her smile and have fun,” gushed Sandy. “She really loves it! She dances, she greets people and asks for “more.” “I am very excited that she and I share a love for the same sport.”

Family and friends have supported Evelyn's snowboarding journey. However, Hango admitted that some wish she had taken up skiing, particularly her husband Alexander and her family, who are primarily skiers. She told the outlet: “But after they had watched the videos and seen Evelyn snowboarding, they came up with the idea.”

Evelyn reportedly loves snowboarding and Hango said he repeatedly asks her when they can get back on the slopes. Hango shared, “Every time we are outside at home or on the mountain, she says, 'Mom, she snowboards, please.'”
