Mona Patel shared a behind-the-scenes look at her 2024 Met Gala dress on Instagram.
For this Met Gala's 'The Garden of Time' theme, the tech mogul enlisted the expertise of Zendaya's renowned stylist, Law Roach, to make his Met Gala appearance make an incredible impression.
Patel, 43, walked this year's green carpet in a stunning Iris van Herpen gown that included a corset-like bodice designed to look like butterfly wings. This delicate detail was seen throughout the dress, along with Casey Curran's arm piece that had animatronic butterflies running along it.
He shared a video on his Instagram showing how Curran built the kinetic arm piece in less than 30 days, noting that the entire process was collaborative and “intensely interactive.” The clip shows clips of how the arm was built, including shots of assembling the intricate machinery and testing the arm.
“It was an intense [interactive] process with a lot of brainstorming and problem solving in collaboration with the @irisvanherpen team and I,” Patel wrote in his caption. “As a STEM expert, he dreamed of having these mechanical gloves that opened and closed to create a [multisensory] Effect for the dress that synced with @nick_knight's work at this year's exhibition!
She added: “I discovered Casey in [29 March], we had our first call on April 1 and the break is history! I hope you can see how much time, effort, and love went into making JUST this piece of art!
He concluded the caption by heartily thanking Curran for giving him “wings to fly.”
