Archana Rao and SWGT unveiled a charming and imaginative world on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week in collaboration with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Both designers showed their impressive collections. Archana's Sun and Moon ventured into the celestial realm, while SWGT's A Periwinkle Wednesday was inspired by the designer's first experience of love. The event took place at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai.
Taking to Instagram, Lakme Fashion Week shared a series of photographs that provide a captivating insight into the exquisite collections of both designers. The first image features a vibrant blue coordinating ensemble adorned with digital artwork, while the next shows a striking black dress with full sleeves. The dress was embellished with Archana's signature floral work. Moving on, the third image highlights an elegant black sleeveless dress complemented by a white collar and intricate floral patchwork. In particular, it is combined with black tights adorned with motifs inspired by the celestial bodies of the sun and the moon.
The next three photos continue to show sets that feature similar stunning Swarovski crystal work and intricate appliqués. The two photos show sets from the shelves of SWGT.
Archana Rao also reposted some photos shared by FDCI on her Instagram account, and her stunning collection says it all. From pastel hues to bold colors, his runway collection beautifully highlights stark differences while celebrating the inherent harmony between them. Adorned with motifs inspired by celestial bodies, along with Archana's signature flowers and illustrations, the collection embodies the 'Less is more' philosophy, guiding the creation of minimalist yet impactful pieces.
Let's delve into their collections:
Color palette
The color palette also echoed the hues of the inspiration, with ivory transitioning effortlessly into gold and dusty pink, while midnight blue and deep black served as a backdrop for the elegant interplay of light and shadow.
Fabrics:
The choice of fabrics and innovative construction techniques distinguish their creations. Luxurious fabrics such as silk satin, organza and faux fur were expertly manipulated to create garments that exuded glamor and sophistication.
Meanwhile, Shweta Gupta's SWGT collection, A Periwinkle Wednesday, celebrates love in all its forms: vulnerable, witty, poetic, charming and even frivolous. Each piece in the collection swings and transitions seamlessly from morning look to daytime to evening attire, capturing the complexities of romance and heartbreak.
The collection featured precise control in structure and style, evident in the collars, gathered knots and textured pleats. The geometric textures were created through pleats and folds, complemented by hand embroidery.
