Kim Kardashian has revealed why she wore a gray cardigan on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet after the accessory confused fans.

For the occasion, Kardashian, who once again debuted platinum locks, wore a custom silver Margiela by John Galliano dress with a corset and a sheer mermaid-style metallic lace skirt adorned with leaves and flowers.
However, it was Kardashian's accessories that confused viewers, as the reality star opted to cover her shoulders with a gray shrug, which she kept closed over her chest.
On social media, the decision to pair the custom Met Gala look with casual outerwear sparked confusion, with many wondering why Kardashian didn't ditch the cardigan entirely.
“Take off the cardigan… it's ruining the whole look,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, while another asked: “What's the cardigan for?”
According to another reviewer, the cardigan “made no sense.” Others took advantage of the fashion moment to joke about their own wardrobe choices, with one person writing: “Me when I get home from clubbing and wear my mom's cardigan while I eat leftovers.”
Amid online criticism of Kardashian's sweater, she said Fashion during the Met Gala why she was wearing the accessory. She alleged that her look was inspired by the dress code of the event, “The Garden of Time.”
“This is like the wildest night of my life in a garden,” she said, describing the history of her outfit. “And I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend's sweater and put it on him. And he had to get to work. “My hair is all messed up.”
However, several people on social media are still wondering if the cardigan was intended for the outfit in the first place. They wondered if something had happened to the dress, and that Kardashian was wearing the sweater to cover up the wardrobe issue.
“Something is wrong with Kim's dress because there is no way she can hold the cardigan or sweater even on the carpet,” one wrote.
“So…we can all see Kim Kardashian having to keep that cardigan in place, right? Especially on the left side of him (?)? “It's also such a strange addition to the dress that I feel like there was a wardrobe malfunction and this was a last minute fix,” another tweeted.

Kardashian is not the only member of her family to grace the steps of the Met Museum's red carpet, as she was accompanied at the gala by her mother Kris Jenner and her sister Kendall Jenner.
