Kareena Kapoor Khan looked eternally ethereal in a vintage Banarasi saree

Kareena Kapoor Khan's modern saree was created without cutting the actual saree.

To celebrate Kareena Kapoor Khan's 25th birthday, the vintage Banarasi saree worn was styled by couturier Amit Aggarwal and celebrity fashion stylist Rhea Kapoor.

Kareena Kapoor Khan completed 25 years in the Hindi film industry and made sure to do it in style.

At the Kareena Kapoor Film Festival, hosted in her honour at PVR-Inox in Mumbai, the Buckingham Murders star looked eternally ethereal as she was addressed by couturier Amit Aggarwal, wearing a modern sari, designed by the couturier himself. Kareena also took to Instagram to share a series of pictures of the timelessly elegant draping she sported.

The reimagined and restored vintage black and gold Banarasi saree paid beautiful homage to six yards of pure elegance. The intricate micro pleating of the off-shoulder ensemble and long draping exuded royalty with a hint of drama à la Kareena.

An epitome of grace and glamour, Kareena embraced the contemporary Indian silhouette, which was impeccably styled by celebrity fashion stylist Rhea Kapoor along with her team Sheeren, Sana Aver and Vanshika Makkar. Kareena’s makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist Mickey Contractor and her hair was styled by celebrity hair stylist Mitesh Rajani. Kareena further accentuated her look with statement pieces from Uncut Jewellery.

Rhea Kapoor took to Instagram to decipher the versatile draping brought to life by Amit Aggarwal. Describing Kareena's opulent ensemble, Rhea says, “Kareena Kapoor Khan is wearing a second-hand customised vintage Banarasi. This Amit Aggarwal piece was made by restoring the fabric through meticulous pleating and restoration practices without cutting the actual saree. It was reimagined as a modern saree draping to maintain the integrity of the original fabric and its purpose.”

Known for celebrating Indian textiles and its craftsmanship in his collections, Amit Aggarwal’s couture is a perfect blend of culture with a futuristic aura. The designer is known for reviving ancient Indian textiles and weaving art into them. Every silhouette that Amit Aggarwal imagines complements India and its craftsmanship. In 2023, during the opening ceremony of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore a vintage Banarasi brocade sari crafted with silver threads and gold electroplating on khadi silk. It was elegantly draped and structured with a jewel-toned moulded bodice made from a uniquely crafted material and paired with a signature holographic sequin-foil bustier.
