Fans are praising Christie Brinkley for sharing her candid thoughts on aging.
The 70-year-old model took to Instagram on July 23 to talk about how she's opened up to even more opportunities in her life as she's gotten older.
“This whole age thing! But I think 70 is the new 40, a great time to take on new challenges, volunteer, travel or start a new company. The sky is the limit,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
Brinkley went on to express how happy she feels at 70, adding, “Now is a great time to make your dreams and goals come true! Here's to loving the age you're at!”
She accompanied the caption with a photo of herself wearing a long-sleeved green dress, while posing on a white bedspread and smiling for the camera.
In the comments, many fans agreed with Brinkley's honest message, while also praising her for pushing back against societal stereotypes about aging.
“@christiebrinkley Like a good Prosecco… even better with age! You are breaking/shattering stereotypes! Cheers and happiness!” wrote one.
“You are one of the BEST examples of the saying “Age is just a number,” added another. “It really is! I’m with you!”
“For you, 70 is the new 30,” commented a third. “You are more beautiful than ever and your enthusiasm for life and new adventures is totally inspiring. Keep going and upwards.”
This isn't the first time Brinkley has responded to ageist comments. During an interview with People Last month, she confessed that she was once afraid of being left out of the modeling industry.
“I was told that by the time I was 30, I would be chewed up and spit out of this business,” he explained. “But 50 isn’t 50 anymore. Thirty isn’t 30 anymore.”
The ex Sports Illustrated The cover star also gushed about her 70th birthday, calling it “the start of a great decade.” She then shared how women on social media have praised her for her positive posts about aging.
“On my Instagram, I get messages from women saying, ‘I’m looking forward to my 70th now.’ I was kind of dreading it, but you make it seem so fun. And it’s so important that it’s fun and that so far, so good,” she added.
In February, Brinkley celebrated her birthday by sharing a message on Instagram about self-love and acceptance. Her post also included a photo of her sporting a white bralette, leggings, and a cardigan, as she flexed her muscles for the camera.
“When I look in the mirror on my 70th birthday, what do I see? I finally feel happy with the person looking back at me,” she wrote. “I am no longer critical or demanding, but now I am grateful and understanding.”
“I’ve put this body through it. I’ve broken every bone, through small miracles I’ve healed completely, in my heart and soul I’m home,” Brinkley continued. “It’s taken me 70 years to get here, through tears and joy I’ve found my happiness, so now I’m going to finish this poem, before I get too sentimental!”
