Chrissy Teigen has responded candidly to criticism over the outfit she wore during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The 38-year-old model and her husband, John Legend, posed in front of the Eiffel Tower on July 25, before heading to the Olympics. For the occasion, Teigen opted for a long green sweater with gold buttons and matching high-waisted shorts. She completed her look with strappy black heels, gold earrings and a black leather bag.

When she posted a photo on Instagram of herself and her husband, who was wearing a black suit and white shirt, at the event, she received a lot of criticism for her green look. For example, one person claimed it was the “worst outfit” for the Olympics opening ceremony. Others criticised the length of her micro shorts, and many claimed the look was “inappropriate” for the games.

However, Teigen didn't seem to take the backlash seriously, as she hilariously responded to the comment with, “Thanks for sharing!”

While she did not respond to any of the other comments, several trolls claimed the outfit looked “horrible,” while others questioned the extremely short shorts.

However, Teigen defended herself against the criticism, with some writing that she looked “stunning” and “confident” in her outfit, while applauding her for wearing heels at the star-studded event.

In the opening caption of the post, the cookbook author expressed how meaningful it was to attend the Olympics with her friends and family, including her and Legend's two oldest children: Luna, eight, and Miles, six. The couple also share an 18-month-old daughter, Esti, and a 13-month-old son, Wren, who did not attend the trip to Paris.

“Opening ceremonies! Sure it rained a little (a lot) but wowowowowow it was an absolutely epic experience (and I got to see some of my favorite people!),” she wrote.

Days later, she also shared a photo on Instagram of herself and her children in the stands as American gymnast Simon Biles competed. For the competition, which Biles attended with a calf injury, the family held up signs with the athlete's name, and Luna held up a piece of paper that said “SI.” Meanwhile, Teigen sat next to her daughter and held up a piece of paper that said “MO,” on which Miles held a sign with “NE” written on it.

Ahead of their family trip to Paris, Teigen spoke about how excited her children were to attend this year's Olympics.

“Only the older kids, Luna and Miles, come and they are excited,” she said. People earlier this month. “I’ve never been to anything like this in my life, so being in Paris for the Olympics will be something on another level.”

She noted that Luna in particular is “very excited to watch gymnastics,” as the eight-year-old “is a gymnast herself.” However, Teigen hilariously added that her daughter is “not even close to Simone Biles caliber yet.”

While she acknowledged that the trip to Paris with her children was going to be “absolute chaos,” she knew that Luna and Miles were going to “love being there.”

“It’s so beautiful and there’s so much to do and see,” Teigen continued. “And that makes it fun for any family trip.”
