Brooke Shields' daughter Grier Henchy paid tribute to her mother by choosing a special piece from her wardrobe for her high school graduation.

The 59-year-old actress unlocked a memory from her past when she gave Grier her 1997 wedding dress to wear on her prom day. Shields originally wore the ivory satin gown when she married her now ex-husband Andre Agassi. The two were married from 1997 to 1999.

And while Shields may have previously left the dress in the back of her closet, thinking she would never need it again, the piece was recovered by her daughter.

Talking with People For a cover story, Grier detailed how they reworked the original silhouette.

“We had to re-bone it a little bit to make it fit and sleek,” the 18-year-old told the outlet. “We took all the volume out of it because I didn’t want it to be too bulky. And we made it strapless.”

The young scholar, who is headed to Wake Forest University, paired the chic dress with pointed-toe pumps, a Van Cleef choker and circular earrings.

Even though Shields and Agassi split years ago, the screen star still thinks highly of him and their big day together. “He’s a good guy, so for me it was really like a big full circle moment and honoring something and I think that’s healthy,” she said.

Proud mom Shields complimented her daughter on her look in the magazine and was full of praise for her grown-up little girl. “She looked amazing in the look,” she said.

“It's such an honor when they want to wear your stuff. They don't usually think I'm that cool,” Shields said.

As for the access her two daughters, Grier and Rowan, have to her closet, Shields said, “Honestly, they can wear anything because just to give it another life, you put things away and wonder why.”

“Is it like a big Sotheby’s auction? I highly doubt it. Unless they are iconic objects. So when they have another life, it feels good,” he added.

Rowan has already worn one of her mother’s “iconic” pieces, though. In 2021, her eldest daughter dug out her 1998 red Richard Tyler dress to wear as a prom dress. Shields previously wore the custom-made piece to the Golden Globes.

Shields shares Grier and Rowan, 21, with current husband Chris Henchy. The couple married in 2001 and had been dating for two years prior. Shields and Henchy met the same year she and Agassi confirmed their split.

He endless Love The actress broke down on social media on August 26 after dropping Grier off at college. On Instagram, she cried about now having two children in school and her “empty nest.” “My two little birds have left the nest,” she exclaimed.

“A year ago I sat here and watched my big girl walk away and now I’m back on this porch and I’m now officially an empty nester,” Shields continued. “At least they’re together. It’s not easy. It’s not easy for moms. I mean, it’s so weird. It’s so weird that [Grier’s] Not here.”
