Blake Lively attended the premiere of her upcoming film, #ItEndsWithUs, wearing the iconic Versace dress that Britney Spears wore at the 2002 fashion show.

Blake Lively stunned at the New York premiere of her latest film in a vintage Versace dress once worn by Britney Spears, calling it a “lucky” tribute to the pop icon.

Blake Lively turned heads at the New York premiere of her latest film, Ends with us on Tuesday, August 6, wearing a vintage Versace dress once worn by Britney Spears in 2002.

Lively was thrilled to wear the iconic dress, sharing with PEOPLE, “It’s Britney’s actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But I’m wearing it. I feel so lucky!” The dress, a nod to her floral-themed summer wardrobe, features embellished flowers at the waist and a striking multi-colored sequin pattern. The one-shoulder halter neckline and cutout bodice added to the dress’ unique appeal.

To complement the vintage look, Lively chose accessories from Lorraine Schwartz, including rings and drop earrings in vibrant pink and pastel blue, which echoed the shades of the dress. Her strappy iridescent heels kept the focus on the dress, while her makeup, featuring soft pink eyeshadow and matte lipstick, perfectly matched the dress. She styled her long blonde hair in loose waves that fell down her back.

On Instagram Stories, Lively paid tribute to Spears, writing: “Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to shine, write and share our stories.” She continued: “Britney, all of us millennials have a story of a time or years where you made us want to shine and inspire wonder, with strength, joy and immense work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories.”

Lively was joined on the red carpet by her husband, Ryan Reynolds, who wore an olive green suit with a white flower buttonhole in honor of Lively’s character. They were also joined by Reynolds’ “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” co-star Hugh Jackman.

Since she began her promotional tour for the film, based on Colleen Hoover’s book “It Ends with Us,” Lively has embraced floral fashion as part of her promotional strategy. She explained her dressing method to PEOPLE, saying, “I’m so excited that the dressing method is so popular now because years ago when I did ‘A Simple Favor,’ people were like, ‘Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you wearing a suit?'” She added, “It’s a marketing stunt to try to get people to pay attention to our movie. And it worked.”

With the film set to premiere on August 9, fans can expect more floral-inspired looks from Lively, who has already shown off a variety of floral-themed outfits, from minidresses to embroidered leggings. The countdown to the film's release continues, and Lively's wardrobe promises to keep the floral trend alive.
