Best Red Carpet Fashion at the Emmys: Suki Waterhouse, Jennifer Coolidge and More

After being postponed due to labor strikes in Hollywood, the Emmy Awards returned Monday night, and with the ceremony came what could be the television industry's biggest fashion show.

Although the carpet was gray, there was no shortage of red, a color that was also quite popular at this month's Golden Globes. Bows, an essential accessory of 2023, remained a favorite decoration: Riley Keough had a black bow in her hair, while her “Daisy Jones and the Six” co-star, Suki Waterhouse, and the actress and screenwriter of “ Abbott Elementary”, Quinta Brunson, each had them on their dresses. (Mrs. Waterhouse is sitting under her belly.)

The ceremony paid tribute to television shows broadcast last year, which gave viewers a chance to catch up with casts like the one from the second season of “White Lotus.” Some of its members seemed to take advantage of the occasion to pay tribute to the setting of the show by wearing Italian designers: Meghann Fahy chose a strapless dress loaded with rosettes by Armani (which was red); Simona Tabasco wore a floral Marni with a full skirt; and Jennifer Coolidge wore a sheer Etro dress.

Amid a carpet filled with feathers, beads, sequins, diamonds and plenty of well-tailored suits, the following 15 outfits stood out from the rest (for better or worse).

The actress and star of “The White Lotus” wore a colossal pin pinned to her pale greenish-yellow Loewe look. If her accessory looked familiar, it might be because “Past Lives” director Celine Song wore an equally large pin through her Loewe skirt at the Golden Globes.

A leather texture and inverted tulip shape made “The Bear” actress' Louis Vuitton dress a little more interesting than your average black strapless dress.

There was no way to confuse the actress from “The White Lotus” with Peppa Pig with this black Etro dress with transparencies and a pronounced neckline.

In an interview on the carpet, the actress and executive producer of “A Black Lady Sketch Show” said she wanted her Emmys look to add a little drama. Her flowy Pamella Roland dress covered in feathers and crystals achieved that (and then some).

The actor, co-creator of the show “Storm,” looked elegant in a black velvet Bode suit with floral embroidery. The best part of the outfit might have been the ballet flats with his bow.

Few, if any, red dresses were as eye-catching as the pregnant actress's Valentino dress, which put her stomach front and center. In an interview about the rug, she said it had to be redesigned to fit her bump.

The “Abbott Elementary” star actress graced the carpet in a look designed by her daughter. Her white dress by Christian Siriano featured peak lapels, a cinched waist, and a flared mermaid skirt.

After taking his name out of the race for the gender-split acting awards at this year's Emmys, the “Yellowjackets” cast member and actor seemingly underscored the point by claiming that the shirtless tuxedo look is the latest in non-binary elegance.

Wearing a tuxedo and fisherman sandals, the actor, star of “The Bear,” offered his opinion on how to wear Birkenstocks under a robe.

The actress, who was nominated for her guest appearance on “Abbott Elementary,” chose an ethereal Armani dress in a plum hue, perhaps to remind viewers that she is also a star of the new adaptation of “The Color Purple.” .

Covering the “Only Murders in the Building” star's dress were blood-red sequins that formed motifs that looked like shapes presented in the artist's so-called cutouts.

The “Killers of the Flower Moon” actor showed off his personal style with the braids and beaded bracelet he wore with his green velvet tuxedo.

The e! The presenter wore some of the night's top F fashion: a lanky, scaly Thierry Mugler dress. (She is a devoted collector of the courtier). The collection from which the dress comes, “Les Atlantes”, in 1989, has been exhibited in museums.

The influencer gave the illusion of leaving everything bare with a dazzling bodysuit that looked like abdominal muscles under a semi-transparent skirt.

The actress, star of “The White Lotus,” looked like a walking bouquet in her Marni dress.
