Ron DeSantis suggests his party highlight Joe Biden’s administration’s failures to win the election
Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suggested his party not focus too much on criminally indicted Donald Trump as it could cost them victory in the 2024 presidential election due to his legal troubles.
The 45-year-old said: “I think if we re-litigate the last election, whether it’s Donald Trump, or his legal issues, or criminal trials or all that, you know, I think it’s going to be a really nasty election.” .
Ron DeSantis also noted during an interview with CBS News: “I don’t think that puts Republicans in a good position to win.”
While speaking, DeSantis also responded to the question of possible violence that could occur if either side loses the election. He hoped that wasn’t the case.
The governor also expressed confidence that the Republican Party will win the elections to be held in November.
The Republican presidential candidate suggested his party “frame the issues around the problems facing the country,” while highlighting the Joe Biden administration’s “failures to win the election.”
However, as a warning, he opined that focusing on Donald Trump could harm the Republican Party’s chances of victory.
“So we need to hold elections on these issues. You know, we need a candidate who can win a clear victory, and we need to start looking forward as a country,” he said.
During the interview, CBS News showed that 49% of American citizens expected violence from the losing side, as on January 6, 2021, there was already an unrest in which supporters of the 77-year-old man broke into the Capitol for Trump’s loss.
DeSantis is trailing former President Trump in the Republican primary. The former commander in chief has been participating in the Republican Party’s presidential debates.
